It happened during the Olympics. It happened during Halloween. It happened during the Winter holidays, and you can be sure it will happen again. Every holiday season that sees cool new legendary skins, players complain about how little gold they get for recieving duplicates from loot boxes. It's a fair complaint when the coolest legendary skins are only available for a short time, and maybe you've received three of one you didn't want. And when the price of a seasonal legendary skin is 3000 gold, it can be a bit frustrating to only recieve 200 coins.
