Battlefield 6 Insider Says The Game Will Be ‘What Fans Want’

With the latest Call of Duty taking a Battlefield -like approach to certain modes, with vehicles and larger scale play via Combined Arms, it will be interesting to see if the Battlefield series changes further or sticks to its guns. While fans can expect large-scale gameplay and some level of destruction, as those are core elements of Battlefield ’s DNA, little else is known about the next game in the series. That being said, this is just an interpretation of the next-gen prototypes shown in EA Play Live earlier this year. EA and DICE have confirmed that a new Battlefield game (presumably Battlefield 6 ) is headed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and currently has a 2021 release window planned. Consider 2017's Battlefront 2 , a Star Wars property that borrows many of the same gameplay elements from Battlefield . There was an undeniably dedicated amount of work put into the singleplayer story of Battlefront 2 , and yet it was one of the lesser portions of that game. The Star Wars franchise is (more or less) known for engaging storytelling, but for a main IP like Star Wars ' Battlefront to have a story mode that's largely ignored or glossed over, it shows that EA's shooter gameplay carries itself over an engrossing storyline. Battlefield doesn't even have an established ethos or universe to draw from like Star Wars , so another story campaign in Battlefield likely won't do well unless it's revolution


That being said, taking that prototype gameplay at face value, it's clear that EA is inferring these new improvements in player density/fidelity and destruction refinements will be Battlefield 's key factors of success for next-gen . That's certainly not a bad thing, as having large-scale battlefields that evoke a simulation of war is exactly what Battlefield has done best in the past. The only major problem is that Battlefield 6 will need to make sure that these new additions are not just window dressing. These systemic improvements/refinements have to be done with purpose, not just for the sake of being technically impressive without any semblance of gameplay importa


This return to a present day setting seems favorable to fans, and inevitable, as the indicative tweet from Henderson got an enthusiastic response from his followers. It sounds like the developers, EA DICE , are taking some cues from one of the favorites of the series, and surely setting it in modern times will give players some advanced weapons and vehicles to test out. Battlefield 6 however, must make up for Battlefield V and deliver not just substantially more content, but a higher level of polish, a faster rate of post-launch content, higher player counts, and some innovation to compete with Modern Warfare which has given Call of Duty their best game in years - one that also supports cross-play and offers its battle royale modes for f

According to a September rumor, a remake of Battlefield 3 , one of the most popular installments in the series, could be in development. The source of the leak is the Stockholm studio itself. On Twitter, DICE posted a short clip from the game followed by a "What?" question, which could either indicate a Battlefield 3 remaster or subtly confirm the modern setting for Battlefield 6 . In terms of what was specifically shown, the gameplay from DICE is very ambiguous. It's clearly an early prototype of gameplay for the next Battlefield game, but the assets themselves don't appear to be any different from Battlefield 5 . It's very possible the prototype gameplay shown was a repurposing of assets from Battlefield 5 showcasing what next-gen processing is capable of. That being said, it shows about around a hundred of what appear to be rendered models (all potentially players) moving in a single space. There also was a scene showing a building collapsing, which was more than likely showcasing a new version of Battlefield 's Destruction physics. Lastly, there were a few close-ups of an indistinct soldier's face rendered in high detail, though it wasn't clear if this was next-gen graphics rendered in-eng
