Bundle up for a journey to Ecopoint: Antarctica, the former Overwatch installation where climatologist Mei-Ling Zhou was once stationed. While researching severe weather anomalies in the region, the station was hit by an intense polar storm. Running out of options and low on supplies, the team decided to cryogenically freeze themselves until the storm passed. They believed that it would only be for a few months, but Mei awoke nearly a decade la Bastion is a perfect example of the fluidity of Overwatch . If this list had been written only a few weeks ago, Bastion would have come in near the top. Thankfully, they nerfed Bastion when they realized how powerful he had become, bringing him back down to Earth - and the back third of this l Symmetra probably sits in about the same spot she'd sit before the recent changes to her kit. The new shield generator gives her ultimate more flexibility and her shield ability makes her far more effective in one v. one situations. Still, Symmetra has always been relegated to first-point defense in most ca Discover brand new ways to play Overwatch in the Arcade. Choose from a variety of regularly rotating game modes, maps, and rulesets that don't quite fit into Quick Play or Competitive Play. Whether it's 1-on-1 duels, 3-vs-3 skirmishes, our alternating selection of brawls, or special rulesets like "no hero switching," you should have no problem finding a game that fits your mood. Experience is earned just like any other mode, but you can also earn Arcade-specific rewards, like Loot Bo Hanzo, while effective in the right hands, will still garner a groan from teammates who see him picked in a competitive match. With Hanzo, we enter the section of the list that is "below ideal." Sure, an effective Hanzo player can devastate the enemy team. That said, most people would rather have a Soldier 76 or even Widowmaker on their side over a Ha Blizzard changed Symmetra because they wanted to make her more viable in general situations. Her win rate was always high, but they saw that she was mostly being picked on first-point defense alone. The change has given her some viability outside of these circumstances, but mostly only to second-point defense on assault m Early in the year, Firewatch immersed me in one of my absolute favorite stories of the year in the American wilderness, while Far Cry Primal took me back to a more brutal time period. In the spring and summer, DOOM brought me into a roaring rendition of Hell that I will never forget, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End concluded an epic adventure that came once in a generation. For the fall and early winter, Gears of War 4 brought high-octane action, Dishonored 2 gave me contemplative stealth action, and Watch Dogs 2 provided __ open-world action in a vast, colorful setting of San Franci Competitive multiplayer shooters are not only competitive these days in the sense of proving their ability to offer engaging multiplayer experiences, but even more so for proving that they will have lasting communities built around them to last for at least a few months (or hopefully years). Against multiplayer mainstays like Counter-Strike , Dota 2 , League of Legends , the latest editions of Call of Duty or Battlefield , and more, the chances of a lasting community around a new multiplayer title grow slimmer each year: thankfully, Overwatch seems to have proven the opposite in so many ways with a bustling and vibrant community, whether it's been in-game or on the game's subred This problem is particularly noticeable on console. No one disagrees that aiming is much easier on PC. This makes console Windowmaker players need even more skill to be effective. On top of that, a skilled Winston or D.Va on the enemy team can counter Widowmaker players More Help often than not. For these reasons, Widowmaker finds herself near the top of the bottom half. Instead of groaning at Widowmaker picks, most players will simply say, "You better be go Much like Team Fortress 2 -- one of Blizzard's most obvious influences on the title -- Overwatch is a team-oriented game: extra emphasis on that "team-oriented" part. No matter what the skill levels are of players on the team, Blizzard's smart direction and design of Overwatch emphasizes the need for players to work together and collaborate incredibly well, and along the way makes each match feel like a learning experience when it comes down to playing as each of the game's Heroes and mastering their skills and particular roI don't think there was ever any hesitancy, but there was a realization that this is freaking terrifying. Because it's not just important to us, right? Being in the COD family it really means a lot, but dude I remember skipping school for this game. So it's one of those things that it means a whole lot to be playing that game and it means a whole lot be able to bring that to the fans and trying to figure out 'what's the most important thing to me as a gamer,' and 'what's going to resonate with the community,' because there's actually a really healthy community out there. Like 20,000 people still playing on Steam pretty regularly. It's crazy, but dude they love it. If you haven't played some of their mod severs they're friendly, it's fun to play, but they're really really engaged. The Steam forums will let you know that. It is a daunting task and it has been. I would probably say regularly it was like 'okay is going to make a fan pissed off?' I think we got out in front of that really early with that 'don't f*ck with the gameplay,' as our number one tenet, and that coincides with Raven's mantra of gameplay first. So our entire team already had that mentality of we're not going to mess with what the designers say is important. We were pushing for you keep the timing the same, you keep the feel, you keep the spacial design/the level design cannot not change, but we can add personality and we can add character to it.
