Updated on June 9th, 2024, by Ritwik Mitra: The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is full to the brim with a wealth of Stranger missions, side content that feels almost as fleshed out as the main campaign's missions. One such Stranger mission puts players in contact with Henri Lemieux, the mayor of Saint Denis, and his deputy, a man by the name of Jean-Marc Mercier . Jean-Marc operates as the deputy for the corrupt mayor, whom he hates with every fiber of his being, and Arthur's actions during these Stranger missions govern whether he uncovers the mayor's corruption and becomes the new mayor of Saint Denis, or is killed by Arthur under Lemieux's orders. Initially, Red Dead Redemption was a simple tale of a reformed outlaw trying desperately to turn from his wicked ways and make an honest life for his family while constantly being dragged back in because of his old gang. Following Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linde Gang through RDR2, though, made the narrative a larger tale about a complete family of outlaws struggling to continue their way of life set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing frontier as the lawless West gave way to civilization. In doing so, Rockstar made the Van Der Linde Gang and its leader Dutch van der Linde the actual main characters of the franchise, which makes the perfect narrative for Red Dead Redemption 3 to explore the origins of Dutch van der Linde in a similar way the Star Wars prequels showcased the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker. While the western frontier of Red Dead may not be as fraught with heroic saviors and malevolent villains, the tale of a hopeful and ambitious Robin Hood figure turned narcissistic megalomaniac is equally as compelling as the origins of Darth Va Unfortunately, due to the nonessential nature of Stranger Missions, the notifications for different mission starting points are often hidden until players enter the correct area. This is just another challenge for players trying to reach 100% Completion for Red Dead Redemption 2 . An additional challenge is the fact that not all Stranger Missions can be completed at whatever time players deem is convenient, some only being available during certain chapters of the main story. This makes some Stranger Missions easier to miss than oth Granger’s tricky, but Arthur’s trickier. A sleight-of-hand trick with a stick of dynamite causes the manure wagon to explode, covering Granger in pig excrement. Arthur never gets his Boy Calloway stories, but he gets the better of Emmet Gran Like many other Rockstar creations, morality does not have a clear line in L.A. Noire . The players get to experience different cases and stories from the perspective of two protagonists, Cole Phelps and Jack Ke The funniest mission across the whole Red Dead Redemption 2 hunting Dead franchise is Arthur’s infamous night out with Lenny. Suitably downplayed by the mission title, never has it been more fun to stumble around, half-cut, looking for your mate in a " The Artist's Way " is one of the simplest missions to complete, with a majority of its hilariously chaotic scenes playing out with players as passive observers. The hijinks sparked by Châtenay's scandalous art are amusing even to Arthur Morgan, as he saves the man's life time and time again from outraged citizens of Saint Denis. While it is simple to miss, and may cause a few troubles with the law, the entertainment value makes this Stranger Mission a must-p Perhaps the easiest to miss are the most time consuming ones: the collectibles. Deborah MacGuiness can be found at a dig site, where she requests either John Marston or Arthur Morgan dig up dinosaur bones hidden around the map. Finding all the bones will allow players to view a cutscene of the strange creature's completed skeletal assembly. Like many paleontological presentations from earlier time periods, the construction of the bones is flawed, but it remains a sight to behold, and is easily missed if players falter in their collecting. Similarly, the " Smoking and Other Hobbies " mission requires players to locate and obtain hidden sets of cigarette cards around Red Dead Redemption 2's __ map . These can be found throughout the map, similarly to dinosaur bones, as well as in certain cartons of cigarettes. Players can receive rewards from the gentleman that offers the Stranger Mission if enough full sets are obtained. Both of these goals can be accomplished passively as players go through Red Dead Redemption 2's main st While Dutch may not have a Chosen One-type prophecy driving his narrative, it would be hard to convince him of it. Dutch believes unequivocally that he is destined to make a utopia for him and his own that fits his fantasy of a free frontier. The original Red Dead Redemption showed Dutch at the very end of his journey when he had no cards left up his sleeve, but even then the enigmatic leader had the last word and ended things on his own terms. When the story roles back to the downfall of the Van Der Linde Gang in RDR2, players see a much more nuanced Dutch with more of the charm and bravado for which he's known, but that slowly fades as the story progresses. Even as the game foreshadows that he is getting sloppy and erratic, Dutch still showcases hints at the man he was , who was able to inspire all the members to follow
