That’s where Twitter user and frequent source of gaming leaks Tom Henderson comes in. This morning, Henderson offered tidbits of what DICE has in store for Battlefield 6 and the scale of its gameplay. Starting off, he claimed that while the core multiplayer is being designed around the classic 32-vs-32 player setup, the game will be able to support a lot more than that, with maps that "have been designed with 128+ players in mi Simply put, previous Battlefield games have seen success in a modern setting before so it makes sense to return there. Some of the most popular games in the franchise like Bad Company 1/2 and Battlefield 3/4 each saw great commercial and critical success depicting modern warfare. Battlefield is in a peculiar position it's honestly never really been in before, where the series got its start simulating battles of WWII but has now seen one of its worst-performing games based in WWII . Jumping back to a modern time period, as ironic as it may be, could be exactly what the franchise needs for a comeb Battlefield 6 _ will have the largest scope of any game in the long-running series, and it's set to be released in the 2021 holiday season. Publisher EA previously revealed that the next title in the _Battlefield series would be released next year after it announced that Battlefield 5 and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 , both of which are developed by DICE, would be receiving their final content updates this y Presently, there isn’t much that’s known about EA and DICE’s next military shooter other than it’s confirmed to be in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Much of the discussion around it, as such, has been just speculation and rumor, with the most popular currently being that Battlefield 6 will return to a modern setting , following Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 ’s detours in the World Wars. But as far as actual gameplay information goes, that’s been nonexistent so Battlefield 6 , or whatever it ends up being called, will be the twelfth game in the series that started all the way back in 2002 with the original and beloved Battlefield 1942 . So far we have seen games set in the present, the past, the near future and even the far off future with the fourth game, Battlefield 2142 . The games in this series are all first-person shooters, and tend to focus on large-scale, high player count multiplayer with vehicles and destructible environments. There is an emphasis on teamwork throughout the games, although the latter entries also feature single-player campaigns in an effort for the franchise to better compete with Call of Du While the modern combat setting was enjoyed by fans, at the end of the day it was the clear development focus that made these Battlefield games some of the best in the franchise. Battlefield 6 would be right to return to a modern setting in 2022, but that's not only challenge DICE will need to tackle to bring Battlefield back to its former gl With a potential release window highlighted and another insider doubling down on the previous claims that said the game is looking good, the only question remaining is why exactly the two insiders disagreed on if fan approval of Battlefield 6 ’s direction. While this is purely speculation, it could very well have to do with the game’s setting. Perhaps Battlefield is returning to the modern era just like the Battlefield 6 teaser hoax implied, leaving fans of the newer Battlefield 2042 Loadouts|Https://Battlefield2042Pedia.Com/ titles and their World War settings disappoin Rival franchise Call of Duty also did something similar, and has seen phenomenal success with its Modern Warfare reboot. It's not a one-to-one comparison by any means, but it should at least be encouraging for the Battlefield series. The Call of Duty series also put out a WWII shooter in 2017 that, while not exactly as unpopular as Battlefield 5 has become for fans, also had a particularly middling release even for a Call of Duty title. There were a few problems with microtransactions (a prevalent issue back in 2017 for several games) , the weapon and perk variety in multiplayer, and story gripes as well. Then Call of Duty went back to basics with Modern Warfare , and so far has seen great success, not even counting Warzo Reliable Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson recently tweeted out a response to another leaker named Anton Logvinov. The Russia-based insider, while echoing claims that the game is running well, claimed that the game is something fans will not want. Henderson describes himself as a "long time fan of the Battlefield franchise" and says that he does "believe it’s what fans want," so it will be interesting to see which leaker is ultimately correct regarding Battlefield With Battlefield 5 wrapping up its content roadmap this year, DICE and EA are looking to the future. Battlefield 5 was the subject to a lot of controversy, some of it unwarranted, but plenty of it absolutely justified. As a result, the ambitious roadmap of content updates slowed to a halt and players abandoned the game. Now the Battlefield franchise has its full focus on the next entry, set to release for PS5 and Xbox Series X in the 2022 fiscal y
