That philosophy not only extends from the game's design and multiplayer, but also deep into the themes and characters of Overwatch itself. The game's shining optimism and diverse character designs run deep throughout the experience. More than anything, Overwatch brims with character and charm - Blizzard somehow took a talking gorilla, a sassy time-bender, a shotgun-toting reaper ( who has made for a hilarious parody Twitter account ), and so many other weird, wonderful characters and made them all feel a part of this shared universe and established wo GAME OF THE YEAR Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (Naughty Dog / Sony Interactive Entertainment) Overwatch (Blizzard Entertainment) Inside (Playdead) Dishonored 2 (Arkane Studios / Bethesda Softworks) Firewatch (Campo Santo / Panic) Honorable Mentions: DOOM (id Software / Bethesda Softworks), The Witness (Thekla), Battlefield 1 (EA DICE / Electronic Arts), The Last Guardian (JAPAN Studio / Sony Interactive Entertainment), Titanfall 2 (Respawn Entertainment / Electronic A Skill ratings below 500 will no longer be displayed. Developer Comments: We’ve noticed that some players have been deliberately throwing their matches in an effort to reach the lowest attainable skill rating. We obviously don’t want to incentivize this behavior, because Competitive Play works best when everybody is try Some players will get tired of constantly shooting at the environment, but Splatoon offers enough versatility to keep most players interested. The ability to shoot paint and then swim through that paint is smooth and extremely satisfying. With several classes and online modes available, players have many optional playstyles to choose from and compete agai Since its release in May last year, Overwatch has dominated competitive play with a passionate fanbase and continued updates on its character, with the game's latest balance changes offering some tweaks for a few of the game's Her A second gate no longer closes after the payload passes through the castle doors. Instead, rubble from the damaged doorway partially blocks the entrance. Developer Comments: Once the offensive team gets through the castle entrance, the map becomes very heavily stacked in the defense’s favor. This change will give the offense more entrance options, which should improve the map’s overall bala As Blizzard's first foray into a first-person shooter -- and built from the remains of its long-gestating MMORPG Project Titan -- Overwatch is both classically "Blizzard" and yet an entirely new and fresh experience from the company's previous franchises: especially as the first company's first new franchise since StarCraft debuted in 1998. With that kind of history and development behind it, Overwatch is as much a title that honors the numerous games and genres that influenced it, while forging ahead a path as one of the most exciting and fresh multiplayer titles I've played in quite some time. Coming from the house that built games like Warcraft , Diablo , and StarCraft this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, though (in my eyes) Overwatch 's key attribute comes down to one thing: accessibil Roadhog is a self-described one-man apocalypse and the best friend of Junkrat. He was still relatively young when the invading omnic army turned his home into a wasteland and forced him to don a gas mask. Following that crisis, Roadhog turned to a life of crime and became known as one of the most dangerous men in the world. He’s the bull in a china shop that most decent people fear, and is typically the center of some unheralded act of ch Lucio has been a fan favorite since Overwatch launched, and with good reason. From a gameplay standpoint, his unique ability to accelerate the movement speed of his team while also serving as a healer makes him the ultimate utility pick. Once approved and finalized in the PTR, the patch will then roll out to final release on PC and conso Junkrat is a pure caricature in the best way possible. With his soot-covered features, missing leg, singed clothes, and flame-tipped hair, even an uninformed observer could tell you that Junkrat is an explosives expert after taking just one look at the maniacal munitions mercenary. Junkrat’s entire mission within your average Overwatch game is to cause mass chaos and disrupt the enemy team. He’s a frustrating presence made all the more infuriating by virtue of his grating personality and penchant for fits of high-pitched laugh
