The XCom games are famous for their engaging squad-based combat. The games have always featured a large collection of alien types – each with an ability that players must keep in mind if they want all of their soldiers to make it back to base in one piece. Some of these aliens can fly, some are advanced robotic killing machines, some are basically living tanks, but the deadliest of them have psionic abilities that are frustrating at best – and absolutely devastating at worst. These are the most difficult alien types a player can expect when playing the X-Com titles; minus the unique types like the Uber Ethereal or Warlo The game purposefully left the fate of Doctor Vahlen, the chief scientist from Enemy Unknown , a mystery throughout the game. While she was mentioned briefly, it looks like XCOM have been unable to establish communication with her. In the prequel novel for XCOM 2 , it was revealed that Vahlen escaped a brutal ADVENT attack on a research outpost by taking a boat to the sea. We have little doubt that Firaxis left her fate open for a reason, and we suspect she has been one of the first to work out that a new threat is due to emerge from the dep Other Quantic Dream games available for PC would also count in this entry. Initially a PS3 exclusive , Heavy Rain eventually made its way to PC. Though quick-time events are a part of the gameplay, a majority of the game is making decisions and cinematics . One's appreciation of these games varies depending on personal tastes. They are all technologically impressive, so seeing them on a handheld will be a novelty regardless of the games' qual These alien menaces never get easy to defeat, no matter how well-equipped of a squad the player has. Chryssalids are four-legged insectoid creatures that have several vicious, and SLG walkthrough unique abilities. First off, Chryssalids are extremely fast; most players encountering them for the first time might be shocked how far they can travel in a turn. To make it worse, they can use their leap ability to get to a higher elevation. The ability that makes them particularly dangerous is their ability to implant a Chryssalid embryo into their victims. This turns the victim into a mindless zombie that attacks the player’s squad and civilians. After only a few turns a Chryssalid, at full strength, emerges from the zom This game is not officially out yet, but Baldur's Gate 3 has been receiving a lot of positive press from its Early Access release . Like many RPGs, it is all about balancing equipment and paying attention to stats. Where one can get restless doing this on a couch or in front of a desktop, RPGs have always found a good home on portable consoles purely for this reason. Fans cannot wait to get their hands on the full release, but early access offers quite a lot of content by its A decent tank in a game where they are needed, the Assault class does what it needs to in Enemy Unknown . All of the Assault Class's abilities help it do what it needs to: get in the enemy's face and shoot it with a shot The other class in XCOM 2 that isn't an improvement on the one that preceded it. The Grenadier has some utility and a lot of great damage options. Grenades are extremely helpful during a playthrough to get chip damage and destroy coUnfortunately, the biggest and most heartbreaking problem with XCOM 2 is from the technical side of things. For one, after almost every turn concludes and there are aliens on screen, the game will stall for upwards of a minute until finally giving you back control of the squad of characters. It could very well be unidentified aliens moving around in the background, but considering you don’t know how many there are, it will test your patience to an unfortunate degree. This combined with load times that hang for far longer than they should create an experience that will artificially extend your playtime clock. This isn’t even the worst part, though as we also ran into various crashes, enemies being able to shoot through geometry they shouldn’t be able to, out of the ordinary performance issues and some of the visuals going haywire. The controls can also be a little clunky at times when trying to select an enemy to fire at, although it’s far from the worst problem here. The original UFO Defense Force had players travel to space to eliminate the alien threat, and we wouldn't be surprised to see the sea-based aliens attempt to utilize the moon in order to bring destruction to humanity. Many veteran gamers have been expecting some kind of space mission ever since the series was first revived, and one has to feel like it's due at some point - and logically, the moon has a strong connection to anything water-ba They can do some decent melee damage, but the Ranger and Templar do significantly more. They're like a jack of all trades but master of none in a game where the classes are all specialists in a different fi These are the leaders of the Sectoid soldiers, and besides having higher base stats they also have devastating psionic attacks. Sectoid Commanders have four psionic abilities: Mind Control, Mindfray, Greater Mind Merge, and Psi Panic. The Mind control is especially nefarious, as it gives the Sectoid Commander complete control of a soldier in the player’s squad for three turns. Most mind controlled soldiers do not survive the mission. The Mind Merge gives all Sectoids in battle decent bonuses to Will (morale), health, and critical hit chance. The worst aspect is it is very difficult to distinguish commanders from normal Secto
