Many dragons in Eora are also worshipped by Xaurips, a small reptilian race resembling Dungeons and Dragons ' Kobolds. Xaurips will often offer themselves as sacrifices to be eaten by the dragon they worship. They build their lairs around these creatures, and an old dragon may be the center of massive religious festivals in which hundreds of Xaurips are consu All of the gods in Avowed 's universe were created by an ancient civilization which lived on Eora. The Engwithans were a continent-spanning culture packed full of rival kings and armed with powerful technology. They were able to manipulate souls through a science known as Animancy . As Animancy developed the Engwithans became masters of metaphysics, and began finding solid answers to abstract metaphysical questions. To their shock, they discovered there were no gods. Determined to cover up the truth, the leaders of Engwith decided to make their While Solstheim has a lot of lessons to teach Avowed ’s Living Lands , the unique success of the frontier island as an RPG setting suggests that Obsidian may already be on the right track with its choice of location. What remains to be seen is whether the studio exploits all the unique opportunities its frontier setting presents, or if lets some pass it Even though Obsidian is in the middle of developing two games, it could easily surprise fans with new announcements over the summer at venues like E3. For example, many are wondering if the follow-up to The Outer Worlds is right around the corner. The Outer Worlds, a very successful sci-fi RPG from the studio, came out just a couple years ago and got followed up with a couple equally popular DLCs. Although the game's ending doesn't beg for a sequel, it also leaves a rich foundation for one. It certainly has a big enough following for Obsidian to justify a sequel, Obsidian has had a rocky history, sometimes needing to crowdfund its games to get their development started. Now it's in a very different place with Microsoft's help. Frankly, it's great to see someone as influential in the game industry as Microsoft acknowledging what Obsidian is capable of and giving it a much greater level of stability to help develop its ga Avowed is the upcoming game from Obsidian Entertainment that has many Skyrim fans wondering if the studio’s new RPG could spiritually succeed The Elder Scrolls series. If the trailer is anything to go by, the new game will share many features with The Elder Scrolls from its first-person perspective to its sword-and-sorcery gamep Woedica seems to have a lot of influence at the time of Avowed , which may indicate where in the Pillars of Eternity timeline Avowed takes place. The phrase "when Woedica takes back her throne" is a saying in Pillars of Eternity used to refer to events which would only take place in a perfectly just universe. To the religious or conservative, this includes Woedica once again taking her place as the queen of the g The Living Lands could be a fantastic frontier setting if it also plays with the fear of the unknown in the same way. Players might find entire settlements mysteriously abandoned, for example, motivating them to find out what happened from a sense of insatiable inquisitiveness rather than any in-game reward. Skyrim ’s Dragonborn DLC shows how frontiers like the Living Lands can be used in RPGs to inspire unique dread, but also inspire a unique curiosity which can be a key motivator in open world explorat The studio may not have revealed much solid information about Avowed Money guide so far, but that first trailer still gives some huge hints about the upcoming game's villain and setting. The world of Eora has a huge amount of lore that far fewer players have come into contact with than The Elder Scrolls ’ story. From the fact that many of its nations are recently liberated colonies to the idea that the gods of Eora were artificially created using animancy - the science of souls - Avowed ’s world could be just as rich as The Elder Scrolls ’ with the advantage of being far less famil Based on just how heavily the trailer features Woedica , Avowed may be set during the height of the goddess' power. Woedica may not even be "the Burned Queen" or "the Exiled Queen" yet at all. She only gained those names after the other gods of Eora cast Woedica from her throne, and the fire god Magran burned her. "The Strangler" is Woedica's manifestation on Eora. She is an old woman who wears expensive but tattered clothing, and who supposedly appears on empty roads to strangle those who break their oaths. The Strangler is also said to be supernaturally fast and strong, which could make her a horrifying encounter if she appears in Avow
