All in all, we have seen very little about Ghost of Tsushima , which is why I think I have such a close eye on it this year. Compared to other major releases that are coming up in 2020 ( Cyberpunk 2077 , Final Fantasy VII Remake , DOOM Eternal ) I feel like there are many relatively unknown factors with Ghost of Tsushima . Heck, news on the game went so quiet in 2019 that many started questioning whether or not it would end up just altogether becoming a PS5 game . That obviously won't be the case, but it speaks to how silent Sony has been with this ti Ghost of Tsushima is based on the first Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274. In the real invasion, the Mongols' path took them first to Tsushima Island, located between Korea and the Japanese mainland. Under the command of Kublai Khan, Genghis Khan's grandson, the Mongols fought against a small army of Japanese warriors on Tsushima , led by the Sō daimyo family. The local warriors - overwhelmed by the Mongols' superior numbers and more advanced, gunpowder-fueled weaponry - were defeated, and the population was massacred. After leaving Tsushima, the Mongols continued their raids on Japan's nearby islands, but the invaders were eventually repelled when a typhoon destroyed much of their fleet in Kyushu, Japan. This storm later became known as the kamikaze ("divine wind") of 1274 (via Britannic Along with a new trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 4 title Ghost of Tsushima , PlayStation has revealed the collector's edition version of the game, which fans will undoubtedly be dying to get their hands on. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the studio behind the PlayStation 2's Sly Cooper trilogy and the inFamous series, Ghost of Tsushima was originally revealed in October 2017 during Sony's Paris Games Week presentation and has been on fans' collective radar ever si While the storm could end up impacting the Mongols at some point in the game, too, Jin will at least help it out significantly, fighting off the invading soldiers himself. This will require players to adopt a "samurai commando" fighting style , using stealth tactics and the Mongols' bombs against them. Along with the historical changes, Sucker Punch noted at E3 2018 that the game's Tsushima Island itself is being reinterpreted to better suit a video game, with added locations to provide players more points of interest. Fans will be able to learn more about the game's historical roots after it's released, as several of the Ghost of Tsushima special editions come with a director's commentary that compares it to real life with the help of a Japanese histor Is Ghost of Tsushima going to be the best game of 2020? I'm not a fortune teller, so I have no idea. But could it be my personal favorite game of 2020? Sure, why not. Sucker Punch, for my money, is one of the best developers in the video game industry and based on what we've seen so far, this could be shaping up to be the true swan song for the PS4 (sorry, The Last of Us Part I Sucker Punch has mentioned on several occasions traveling to Japan - and to the Tsushima Island, specifically - in an effort to make sure its depiction of the country is accurate. Research was conducted with the help of Sony's Japan Studio, as well, helping to ensure greater authenticity. The Great Khan is voiced by Patrick Gallag Ghost of Tsushima fictionalizes several elements of this history. For starters, Sucker Punch's Mongol army is led by the fictional Khotun Khan, and Tsushima's ruler is fictional, too - a man named Shimura. Events seen in Ghost of Tsushima's trailers indicate Shimura's battle with the Mongols goes just about as well as it did in real life, but it appears Shimura survives, and so does his nephew, protagonist Jin Sakai. Given he's the playable character, it's no surprise Jin forms the basis of Ghost of Tsushima' s largest departure from history. Rather than being a stand-in for an actual person like Kublai Khan, Jin is essentially a stand-in for 1274's kamikaze . As Sucker Punch Game Director Nate Fox told Variety , "Our hero isn’t a hurricane, he’s a man, and we actually acknowledge that change with his sword that’s engraved with storm wind desig This is where the success came to an end. After an initial surge inland, a senior commander had been injured and eventually died. It's unknown why the Mongol didn't capitalize on their success at this point. Instead, the army hung back near their ships with some reports indicating that many of the ship captains were concerned about a larger Japanese force showing up. Others speculate low supplies or the death of the senior commander having an impact on the campaign. Ultimately, the Mongols decided to retreat back north to Korea under the blanket of night. This proved to be unwise as they encountered severe storms which reportedly sunk 200 ships with 13,500 men l

Nobody knows when The Last of Us Part II will finally release, and if they do, they're not telling. The next largest Sony first-party title after Naughty Dog's sequel is likely Ghost of Tsushima , the new IP from developer Sucker Punch, a studio best known for working on games like Sly Cooper and Infamous . The Japan-set fallen samurai revenge thriller looks to be shaping up to be one of 2020's breakout hits, but now fans are concerned that Sony might delay the highly-anticipated title from its previously-scheduled June 26 street date, to the point where fears about the game's release status have caused Ghost to become a trending topic on Twitter, as recently reported by Game RaAlthough Sly Cooper 2 and 3 explored less linear sections and had a greater sense of freedom in their level design, Sucker Punch’s first true open world title was 2009’s InFamous, which featured a fully-realized metropolitan area known as Empire City. The sizable environment featured plenty of optional encounters, side missions and collectibles to entertain the player outside of campaign missions, all of which helped boost Cole MacGrath’s super-powered abilities and sense of morality. Sucker Punch continued to explore large cities in the form of New Marais and Seattle in InFamous 2 and Second Son respectively, all the while expanding the ways players could traverse the city in quick manners, such as grinding on electric wires or levitation. While Jin’s ability to traverse via horse is significantly less outlandish, the sparse environments that have been shown off so far drastically contrast the hustle and bustle of the cities of InFamous, but still retain that same attention to detail and natural reactions that result from the player’s actions, from the blowing leaves in the wind to the mud and blood flying through the air during a combat encounter. Through a focus on transportation and immersive details, Sucker Punch is utilizing the smaller elements that bolstered InFamous’ reputation to enhance Ghost of Tsushima guide|https://Tsushimagame.Com/ of Tsushima’s take on a completely different type of civilization.Story has always played a key role in Sucker Punch’s history, from Sly Cooper’s journey to understand and recover his family’s history, to the various superhuman Conduits’ paths to saving or ruling over their respective cities. But what grounds these plots and makes them relatable comes down to the supporting cast, as Bentley’s gradually increasing confidence, Murray’s happy-go-lucky demeanor and Zeke Dunbar’s outgoing nature all compliment the behaviors of their respective companion, with each of them remaining dedicated to assisting their friends as best as possible in these difficult times. While traditional samurai stories can often rely more on introspection and seclusion, Sucker Punch has already begun teasing some of the key figures that will play a role in Jin’s fight , including the conflicted ally Masako and his concerned uncle Shimura. With many elements of Ghost of Tsushima’s plot yet to be revealed, there’s room for additional characters to come in and both encourage and challenge Jin on his quest, and Sucker Punch’s past with deep and relatable characters is a testament to the potential of this promise being fulfilled when the game launches on June 26 for PS4. While many video game enthusiasts will likely have their hands full for the immediate future with titles like Resident Evil 3 , Doom Eternal , and Final Fantasy VII Remake , it's easy to look at games on the horizon and wonder when they'll see the light of day.
