There is a linear story path to follow, but there are plenty of side opportunities to engage in. Each region has a few forts that need to be taken over, much like the same style as the battle at Fort Mercer. There are many characters that require assistance from John and these quests are usually entertaining. One quest involves a man with an undying love for his woman and another series of events from a quest giver involves a man who really gets under John's skin in the last quest he gives. Random events happen throughout the world such as highway robberies, hangings and other random encounters with strangers, making the game world feel alive. Rockstar games are known for their sense of humor and some of their dark humor naturally crept into Red Dead Redemption. One of my favorite achievements I ever unlocked happened in this game. A few years ago my girlfriend was hanging out at my apartment and I decided to show her this game (she may have bought it for me for a birthday present but I can't remember). I thought it would be funny to lasso a girl and leave her on the train tracks, like a mustache twirling silent film villain. As the locomotive turned the damsel in distress into a much gooier state of existence, an achievement popped up on screen. It's good to know that my sociopathic tendencies aren't so unusual that the developers weren't able to anticipate my behavior. When it comes to Westerns, many people's first thoughts center around cowboys, outlaws, and rebels. Many people forget how influential Native American lore and folktales are to the same time period in which many of these Westerns took place. It was really interesting to see how many references to Native American culture were included in the teaser trailer. There's a scene where two unidentifiable characters are traversing a river in what seems to be a canoe. If you pan up and to the left, you can clearly make out a dream-catcher in the tree that's placed in the foreground. Native American tribes played a huge part in the history that shaped the American Mid and Southwest. Rockstar understands this and we wouldn't be surprised if one of the major protagonists ends up being a Native American bad During certain missions, you are prompted to cover your face with a bandana, which is typical of Westerns. It looks cool. This is to keep your identity hidden, right? Well despite this, somehow you always get fined with a bounty. It doesn't make any sense. I tried wearing masks too and that doesn't do anything either. It feels like Rockstar put them in as an obligation to the genre. They didn't want to implement it as a real disguise. It might have broken the game otherwise, or someth Now, reading the title of this entry, you might not think that getting flowers for a dead woman is revolting per se; leaving flowers on graves and memorials is a common and loving thing to do. But, John quickly finds out that the man’s wife isn’t dead and buried — she’s just dead. And sitting in a rocking chair in the corner of the god damn kitchen. While this could be seen as a testament to the man’s unyielding love for his wife, I believe it falls into the realm of frontier madness. And even if it is all in the name of love, it is still revolting to have a rotting corpse propped up in your hoAside from these characters that will lead you down interesting side paths in Red Dead Redemption 2 , you don't necessarily have to limit your interactions with other NPCs in the Open World games crafting guide to just those that might be part of a story, as you can interact with any other person or animal in the game. Whether you greet them, rob them, or antagonize them, take the time to see what interesting quips, stories, or tales that the different folk you'll meet around town might offer, and see what sort of surprises they may have in store for you. In the wilderness, a prospector asks John to peacefully acquire a nearby old man’s land so that he can dig a ground well. John heads out and approaches the old man, who stops his sweeping to give John a two barreled greeting. Once John explains that he wants to purchase his land, the old man asks for $200 in exchange for it. The game then lets you give the man $200 for the deed to the land or kill him and take the deed by force. The game even describes him as "the helpless old man," yet gives you the option to gun him d This is just a small problem, but it doesn’t make sense to me why you can’t run in camp. I get that they want you to slow down and talk to your crew, but come on. Sometimes they have nothing to say and all I need to do is get to my tent so I can fast travel, or go to bed. Arthur's bed, I should mention, is always the furthest away from the gate. It's like a weird punishm No small detail is overlooked. It is the collection of countless minor details that makes _ Red Dead Redemption 2 _ so captivating. It is unbelievably satisfying watching horses trudge through miles of deep snow en route to a mission, only to find the same player-made snow trail upon returning to the mission’s point of origin. Throw a corpse into the river, and the body will continue on until it gets stuck, or flows into a lake at the mouth of the river. And last, but not least: hats. Hats easily fly off in the heat of a shootout or during a bar fight, but any hat can be picked up and worn by Arthur. Collecting hats across the western frontier might be one of the most satisfying, unofficial mini-games within _ Red Dead Redemption 2 _ . In fact, as of this writing, the topic of hats was actually trending for the game on Twitt
