One of the most positive elements to come out of the growth of the independent games development scene is the way in which fresh voices are able to take on old concepts. Plenty of small studios have been able to reinvigorate tired genres with fresh mechanics, resulting in such phenomenal games as modern classic Into the Breach . The next game to attempt this kind of bold genre shift is **Speed Brawl What began as a normal July day suddenly got an unexpected surprise as Nickelodeon announced Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl _ out of the blue. No one was expecting Nickelodeon to so closely imitate Nintendo's ever-popular **_Super Smash Bros. ** series. And yet, from the look of the platform-like levels to the presentation of the individual fighters' move sets, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl very much appears to be Smash for Nickelodeon's brand of cartoons. Brawl was even the title of the Wii's iteration for Super Smash Br The small arenas provide chaotic fun against human opponents, and there's definitely fun to be had with Override 2 with a group of like-minded buddies on a couch. However, the online focus and complete lack of a campaign structure kill any drive to keep unlocking cosmetics and bots in single player, and those are the only two options available. Put as simply as possible, _Override 2: Super Mech League _ feels like a demo for a larger experience that doesn't exist. Even as a value-priced title, there's little reason to dive in for all but the most dedicated fans of mechanized com Quite simply, constantly having a timer running means that the game's learning curve can be tough. Players may reach moments in the game where hitting the title's time limits can be quite tricky, and https://brawlstarsfans.com/ each race ends if the player runs out of time overall. This means that players are sometimes left with the option to either keep honing until they scrape through time-wise, or go back and grind elsewhere for better items or money to spend in the game's sh There's also a stage set in a junkyard. Most likely, this stage from Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is related to Aaahh!!! Real Monsters . In that show, the monsters live in a junkyard, so this would be the perfect setting for them. The other option would be Hey Arnold! , as the look of the stage matches the look of that show. The trailer also shows off a graveyard stage that could be related to the Real Monsters or several other Nick properties like Invader Zim . There's also a stage set at a carnival that seems to be Glove World from Spongebob Squarepan As previously mentioned, whether players choose to quick match or go into the campaign, most of their fights will be online against other players. Override 2 will default into bot matches if necessary, and that might be an inevitability. Even in its first week, Override 2 struggled to fill up anything but a one-on-one matchup, and the fights against AI are nothing to write home about. Many of the arenas are small enough that's it's easy to overwhelm a computer opponent with a series of spam attacks, and that complete lack of complexity combines with the endless dialogue on a static menu to make for a painfully boring endea Unlike the characters, the stages weren't exactly confirmed. In fact, some of the stages appear to be shifting, which could mean that one stage turns into another while fighting on it. That said, there are a few stages that were relatively easy to pick out in the trai Every detail from the trailer indicates Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is meant to be ** Super Smash Bros. with Nicktoons. The final Super Smash Bros. ** fighter might disappoint some fans, but two Ninja Turtles is a good compromise. This isn't the first time developer GameMill has remade a Nintendo party game with Nickelodeon characters, either, as Nickelodeon Kart Racers is also an obvious nod to Mario Kart . Be that as it may, in the immortal words of Nigel Thornberry, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl looks " smashin Following up from the original Override , Super Mech League shifts gears from an alien invasion plot to a more straightforward sports analogy. It's basically like the 2011 film Real Steel if Hugh Jackman was replaced with a still image of a female trainer who talks all about the progress the player is making climbing up the ranks. The "story" mode is a layer of voiced dialogue in the menus that funnels players into online fights. There is a lot of voice work, but all the talking in the world can't make up for the lack of any presentation outside of the giant robot fig The project, from developer Double Stallion, describes itself as a 2D combat racer. Although this isn't entirely accurate to the way that game functions, the influences are clear for all to see, with nods towards side-scrolling brawlers such as Double Dragon or Streets of Rage alongside more fast-paced platforming like Strider and Rocket Knight Adventur Beyond that, Speed Brawl is all wrapped up in a tidy, time trial-esque package, although those racing elements might not shine through as clearly as the beat 'em up sections. Nonetheless, the game's emphasis on beat 'em up combat is a nice return, as though Streets of Rage 4 is on the way, the speedier elements of the nineties brawler haven't had a good outing in a fairly long time bar Guacamel

While Brawl Chess is more streamlined than a standard game of chess, and therefore more user friendly, it is a little frustrating to not be able to perform some more advanced strategic chess moves in-game. For example, if the player manages to get one of their pawns to the other side of the board it is automatically promoted to a Queen. While a player would most likely make this choice anyway, there are situations where it is more advantageous to promote to a Knight instead. This is a minor issue, but more experienced chess players will definitely notice the lack of more advanced featu Many franchises have attempted to beat Super Smash Bros. at its own game, but few have succeeded. Bizarrely enough, Nickelodeon is now taking its shot at the Super Smash Bros. crown with a new fighting game that is essentially Super Smash Bros. gameplay with characters from various Nickelodeon TV shows . Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has generated quite a bit of buzz for its interesting cast of characters, and while much of the roster remains a mystery, it seems fans have managed to figure out some of the game's yet-to-be-announced charact The one thing that can be said in Party Edition 's favor is that Oh My Godheads does feel more at home on Nintendo's handheld/console hybrid than any other system. The portable and casual skewing aspect of the Switch molds perfectly to Oh My Godheads ' simple party game vibe. Unfortunately a new system doesn't create a new game. Oh My Godheads: Party Edition is bizarre and amusing, especially with three friends, but it's still a rather shallow gaming experie The pad feels similar to both the Xbox 360 and PS3 controllers, except for the lack of both analog sticks and additional shoulder button room. Six buttons are laid out on the face of the pad and function as the action buttons. Their layout makes it possible to "piano" the buttons whilst laying the controller on your lap, arcade stick style. The buttons are wide and spacious, making them easy to reach and hit comfortably. They are also quite responsive and the slightest tap will trigger them, which is usually a good th Although there is a single player Trials mode, Oh My Godheads is a multiplayer game from top to bottom. This is local multiplayer too. There's no online or any other robust modes to be found. Oh My Godheads is strictly Brawlstarsfans link for more info competitive couch play and that's it. Oh My Godheads is a throwback to multiplayer gaming of the Nintendo 64 era where most of the fun was had with the people in the room and on this specific front Oh My Godheads and developer Titutitech do succ Oh My Godheads: Party Edition _ is one of the strangest games in recent memory. That's meant to be taken (mostly) as a compliment. Originally released in late 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, _Oh My Godheads - the game about stealing the heads of gods - __ has come to Nintendo Switch bearing the all-new subtitle of Party Edition . The new moniker shouldn't really fool anyone. There are a couple of additions to Oh My Godheads but the Nintendo Switch version is largely identical to last year's rele The first thing you’ll notice about the pad is its colorful art. Whether or not you’ll like it depends entirely upon your opinion of WWE superstars Triple H and the Rock. Their super deformed impressions mirror their appearance in the new wrestling title WWE All Stars , but you probably knew that alre Plot-wise, it's clear that Override: Mech City Brawl draws heavily from both classic monster movies and Japanese anime to tell its story. Players start by choosing their mech (of which there are 12 available at launch) and take that character on a globe-trotting adventure to defend different cities on different continents from monster attacks. The mode works by advancing weeks and days of in-game time and allowing players to choose their own missions, while every so often throwing in an important story mission that advances the plot forward. Each mission has a different difficulty level, though the prizes awarded are better the more difficult the miss Override: Mech City Brawl's maps, while nice to look at it, lack diversity. The buildings crumble a little too easily and sometimes everything feels too weightless for the apparent size and girth of these mechs. There's also a sense that the game is never quite difficult enough, especially in its campaign. Even hard missions aren't exactly difficult to get through alone and players will ultimately come out of it still feeling like a super powered god. Depending on a player's love of challenge, this could disappo Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 's stages appear to be set up very similar to Smash Bros. 's. Some even follow Smash Bros. 's tried-and-true format of large stage with three smaller platforms in a triangular arrangement overhead. Others appear to be built for optimum befuddlement - not unlike certain Smash Bros. stages . Plus, fighters appear to be able to knock each other off of these platforms, hang off the edge, or hit through higher o

Nickelodeon has just announced a new Super Smash Bros. style game, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl , which will feature a deep roster of characters from a whole array of classic and current Nickelodeon shows. For all intents and purposes, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl looks as though it will play just like Super Smash Bros . with each Nickelodeon character boasting their own unique arsenal of attacks and special moves while trying to bump opponents off-st As a matter of fact, Nickelodeon is a TV channel that provides a wide selection of children's cartoons, each with its own fan-favorite main characters and villains to look forward to in the new title. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is likely to feature more characters than those shared with today's trailer. Some of them include Patrick Star and SpongeBob SquarePants, as well as Leonardo and Michelangelo from the TMNT . Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They make for the perfect fighting game characters to feature in Nickelodeon All-Star Bra As is the case with the games that inspired it, Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl feels designed more around local co-op play than solo action. Enemies gang up on an isolated player often, getting off cheap shots that could be avoided with a second character on screen. Playing alone does allow for switching between Jay and Silent Bob at will, so it's not impossible to beat. Still, bringing a friend to the couch is very much recommen This is particularly useful because online matches can be frustrating when the game doesn't register inputs and moves, but rollback netcode fixes that with a preventive system. Overall, the comparisons between Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are more than justified, but this doesn't mean it's a bad thing for either game. Instead, each game could positively influence the other, making up for a large, healthy community packed with fighting ga The rest of the characters seen in the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl box art remain a mystery. Two popular Nickelodeon characters that perhaps are the most obvious possibilities for the roster are Jimmy Neutron and Timmy Turner , and it wouldn't be surprising to have a Rocko's Modern Life representative as well. For now, those looking forward to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will have to wait to learn more about the game's final roster and what other characters will be featured in the lin Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will also feature 20 levels based on Nickelodeon shows, such as the Jellyfish Fields from SpongeBob SquarePants and the Technodrome from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle . This too is not very different from what Super Smash Bros. games have done up to now, and then there is also a similarity in terms of what Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has to offer with its multiplayer system, supporting both local and online games for up to four players. Speaking of online games, Ludosity already officially confirmed that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will feature rollback netcode , which is a system that allows the game to predict the players' actions, and that's absent from Super Smash Bros. Ultima As it stands, there's still a lot that we don't know about Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl . The game will reportedly have 20 stages, yet only a couple of them have actually been named by the developers. It's set to launch this fall, but the specific release date has yet to be announced. And it's also unclear if it will have crossplay or any other modern online multiplayer conveniences. One thing fans do know, though, is that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has rollback netcode , which should give it a leg-up on other fighting games when it comes to its online p The centerpiece of the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl box art appears to be one of Nickelodeon's most classic and controversial creations, Ren and Stimpy. The psychotic Chihuahua and dopey Manx cat are fondly remembered recent post by brawlstarsfans.com many of the people that grew up with one of the earliest eras of Nickelodeon , so it's great to see them be represented in this collection of Nickelodeon history. Considering that they haven't been officially announced, there's no telling how they will play in the game, but it's completely possible that Ren and Stimpy will function similarly to how the Ice Climbers do in Super Smash Br Positioned on the far left side of the box art, it's possible to make out the silhouette of some of the most powerful characters in Nickelodeon history, Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra. Korra's fighting pose and signature hair is the most easily recognizable from the box art, so it's pretty safe to say that she'll be featured in some capacity. Aang is a little more difficult to pin down, but directly below Korra is an outstretched hand with a distinctive sleeve that looks just like Aang's. Putting the pose side by side to other Aang artwork, the silhouette and some of Aang's fight poses look identi For years, the go-to fighting video game was Super Smash Bros. , and this shouldn't come as a surprise because older Nintendo consoles and titles have been shaping entire generations of players up to this day and age. With the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and smaller games like Brawlhalla , it seems like the genre has still plenty of room for new releases. Such is the case for the new title coming from Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl , a fighting game that was immediately compared to Super Smash Bros. for its style and the way it handles characters coming from different sh
