Inspiration may not necessarily stem from working on Battlefield , even though adding destruction-style elements a la Burnout wouldn't be unwelcome. That being said, Need for Speed needs to harken back to its glory days if it's going to ever recreate similar success. There were hints of Criterion Games doing just that with Need for Speed Heat , and tangentially so with Need for Speed : Hot Pursuit 2010's remaster . Stronger influence from the critically-acclaimed titles of Need for Speed 's past can only help the series. 2010's Need for Speed : Hot Pursuit is a good start, but it pales in comparison to the heights of 2005's Most Wanted and 2003's Undergrou Even if both the Battlefield and Need for Speed franchises are primed for a comeback during this new console generation, Battlefield already has the advantage. Unlike EA's iconic racing series, Battlefield 's had a minor misstep in an otherwise very successful tenure as EA's flagship first-person shooter. Battlefield 5 is only a relatively recent failure in the wake of successful entries like Battlefield 1 , Battlefield 4 , Battlefield 3 , and even Bad Company 2 . Battlefield 's redemption arc, so to speak, isn't a long time coming. Battlefield 5 was relatively slow on the uptake when it came to balance changes and post-launch content, something the next game presumably won't rep Another reason fans love Battlefield 3 so much is its map design, which goes hand-in-hand with the well-designed Rush game mode. Iconic maps like Operation Metro had an incredible flow to them, as players began in a park, pushed through subway tunnels, and eventually ended up in the city. Each area of Operation Metro offered different levels of verticality and unique choke points, making some areas more or less advantageous to certain playsty EA seems to have big plans for the future. In addition to the new Battlefield title, the company recently announced a brand new entry in the College Footbal l franchise, the first game in the series in 7 years. With fan favorite franchises like these on the rise, 2021 is shaping up to be a banner year for Time can only provide that perspective to Need for Speed . Gameplay-wise, the series has been all over the place, with each release between Need for Speed: The Run and Need for Speed Heat making significant changes to handling, sense of speed, and other pivotal gameplay aspects. Mechanics in the last four or five Need for Speed games have basically been a testing ground for different gameplay styles, rather than a consistently improved driving model. Paired with narratives wildly differentiating from uninteresting to excruciatingly irrelevant, Need for Speed as a franchise has been anything but consistent in design, as well as critical/commercial recept Though an argument can be made that Battlefield 6 should skip the campaign , leaks stated that the "War Stories" system introduced in Battlefield 1 will return. Likely showing characters from different countries working together to fight off the invading Russian forces, each short story should see unique gear used, with all of the items likely being available in online play as well. With every modern gun, vehicle, and equipment item available for DICE to make use of, this potential setting is certainly exciting. While it is not yet confirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt, Battlefield 6 fans should be confident in a modern setting’s return for one big rea Rumors suggest Battlefield 6 could take players back to the modern-day setting , which has been notably absent since Battlefield 4 in 2013. The last two entries in the series, Battlefield 1 and V , have taken players back in time to both World War I and II respectively. After V failed to make a notable impression, it's likely EA is going to try and win back its audience by going back to the modern day setting. Both Battlefield 3 and 4 thrived in their modern day settings, offering high levels of destruction with collapsible skyscrapers and all-out warfare with helicopters, jets, tanks, and more. With EA calling specific attention to its return of "all-out military warfare" it seems to indicate the modern day setting is return Another standout map called Damavand Peak saw players leaping from a massive mountain halfway through the match, with attackers and defenders parachuting down as helicopters followed. Without the old Rush flow, newer maps lack these special, cinematic moments, making Battlefield 6 's possible return to this style very promis Thus far, players have found unofficial info on the setting for Battlefield 6 , the inspirations it is taking from, and the game’s scale. Players have a general idea of when the game will be revealed, too, and past decisions from EA and DICE indicate what do you think could be shown at the event. With an official release window announced, alongside several other features rumored, here is everything that fans should anticipate when more news on Battlefield 6 arri
