Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl Review: Punching Anything That Moves

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl isn't the first time a different studio has branched into Smash Bros .' territory. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale tried to latch onto the trend back in 2012. The game was met with mixed reviews, however, as many criticized its clumsy execution and relative lack of content. Ultimately, a PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale sequel never happened despite rumors, and since then it's seemed as though no other major company has pushed to use Nintendo's winning formula. While there have arguably been a few similar games such as Brawlhalla , none have had major pull or combined enough notable franchises to draw significant attent


In the Avatar universe, each style of bending was modeled after different martial arts. Waterbending follows the smooth motions of Tai Chi, earthbending the rooted movements of Hung Gar, firebending using Northern Shaolin and airbending the light Bagua. As the avatar, Aang and Korra are able to seamlessly shift between all four fighting styles, making them an enticing add to _Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl _ if such a thing were to hap

That’s just a stage, though. I mean, it would be weird to have Avatar stages and no Avatar characters, but it’s not necessarily impossible. Fortunately, the actual cover art for All-Star Brawl features at least two silhouettes that are unmistakably supposed to represent Avatar characters. I’ve circled Korra and Aang below, who can be distinguished by their braid and ear, respectively.


As far as gameplay goes, both slackers have just a jump and a pair of attacks, letting players perform a dropkick and grab foes when combining the two. It's a simplistic control scheme that gets the job done without much flair, and the lack of something like a life-draining super move is surprising. Then again, it might not need that extra level of strategy thanks to its accessibility. The game is definitely easier than many of its 8-bit contemporaries, offering a true challenge only after the first playthrough wraps up. Yesterday, it was announced that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Stars heist Strategy|https://brawlstarsinsight.com/ is due to launch this fall . While the reveal trailer featured a variety of iconic characters like SpongeBob SquarePants from... Well, SpongeBob SquarePants, Michaelangelo and Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys, one particular Nickelodeon series was weirdly absent: Avatar .


The one thing that can be said in Party Edition 's favor is that Oh My Godheads does feel more at home on Nintendo's handheld/console hybrid than any other system. The portable and casual skewing aspect of the Switch molds perfectly to Oh My Godheads ' simple party game vibe. Unfortunately a new system doesn't create a new game. Oh My Godheads: Party Edition is bizarre and amusing, especially with three friends, but it's still a rather shallow gaming experie

So far, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's box art is composed only of fighter silhouettes, not even showing those already announced in the roster. To the left of the shadowed cover art is an image that looks strikingly familiar to Korra. The silhouette holds a flexed arm out with a clenched fist, leading back to the shadow of a head that seems to mirror Korra's early series hairstyle with three distinct ponytails. Just below the silhouette that resembles Korra is the shadow of an outstretched human hand. With the Avatar universe top of mind, it closely resembles the hand and sleeve of Aang. Aang is frequently seen with his hand outstretched, a pose matching the shadow on the cover


In another move that echoes Nintendo's methods, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will feature stages based around designs from different Nickelodeon shows and franchises as well. The game will also include both local and online multiplayer, and is currently set to release this fall on a wide range of different platforms. Although more information will likely be revealed in the upcoming months, All-Star Brawl has already generated a significant amount of hype since its announcement, raising the question of whether it can genuinely compete with the exact game it seems to imitate: Super Smash Bros . Given that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's final DLC character will be coming in the near future, this could be the perfect moment for another brawler with popular characters to step


As is the case with the games that inspired it, Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl feels designed more around local co-op play than solo action. Enemies gang up on an isolated player often, getting off cheap shots that could be avoided with a second character on screen. Playing alone does allow for switching between Jay and Silent Bob at will, so it's not impossible to beat. Still, bringing a friend to the couch is very much recommen
