E3 2012 has come and gone, and with it, another batch of press conferences, cinematic trailers , gameplay demonstrations and efforts by each publisher and developer to catch just a bit more of the spotlight. Some managed to do just that exceedingly well, but no E3 would be complete without a few missteps, a few blown opportunities, and several decisions that had gamers everywhere scratching their he

Much of the backing of these "leaks" lines up with some of the information that Ubisoft sent out as part of a Far Cry feedback survey to players after the release of Far Cry 5 . One question in particular asked players where they would like to see a new Far Cry game take place, which then proceeded to list around 15 regions and time periods. These choices ranged from different regions like South America or North Korea, or even went as far as going to another planet like the Far Cry 5: Lost on Mars D

Kefka's insanity stands out amongst just about every other RPG villain, and not just because he was the first. Even to this day, Kefka still stands out. His personality, warped by his exposure to magic, was that of an evil clown. However he was so much more than that. He is still to date one of the best examples of delightfully pure evil, the kind of villain that you could not stop watching because you had no idea what he was actually capable of. Even today, Kefka's legacy lasts. Sure Sephiroth comes close, but no other Final Fantasy villain, or any RPG villain really, has come close to the level of evil that Kefka was able to reach.

Until we get an official confirmation from Ubisoft, it's hard to gauge what to expect from the next Far Cry game. At the very least we know that the project exists from outside sources, so the anticipation is certainly there. Incorporating elements from one of the more divisive Far Cry games so far could serve to aid the next game in the ser

As part of Far Cry 2 's heavy emphasis on player freedom, the game implemented a number of ways for players to tackle outposts or missions throughout the game. One of which was the 24 hour simulation of time, and the use of safe houses throughout the world. Players could utilize safe houses to rest and pass the time, as well as restock any morphine or ammo supplies. Passing time also dynamically manipulated the world in various ways, such as passing the time for a guard shift change at an outpost or waiting until nightfall to infiltrate an enemy encampment. Granted Far Cry 2 's stealth mechanics were a bit rudimentary compared to later iterations, but there was still a genuine advantage for stealth-oriented players when they rested until nightt

Here's where the leaks get a little shaky, but nevertheless there are plenty of rumors surrounding the next Far Cry title out on the internet. The franchise's track record has shown it's not afraid to experiment with the game's themes or settings, either through DLC or with entirely new games. Far Cry: Primal and link Far Cry: Blood Dragon are prime examples of this , based in prehistoric times as well as a retro-inspired sci-fi future. One of the most popular theories linked to Far Cry 6 states it will allegedly take place within either a North Korea setting or Jurassic-style sett

In a recent interview, actor Giancarlo Esposito was discussing processes for acting in motion capture for The Mandalorian . During that portion of the discussion, Esposito specifically mentions a "huge" video game he's working on that he can't discuss. Rumors flew for a while until a new report seemingly confirmed that game was Far Cry 6 . The article has since been taken down so it may be false, but it's impossible not to wonder what Esposito could bring to the table as a villain in the insane franch

Jason is just a frustrating whiny character, and Arjay is just... well he has no character. Ubisoft even went as far as making a silent protagonist in Far Cry 5 , which completely took us out of the story. If they can nail the tone right for Far Cry 6 , they should also have a main character with an actual personal

Obviously there's other examples like Ghost Recon or Just Dance that are powerhouse franchises for Ubisoft, but they're unlikely to take their place. Additionally, Jason Schreier from Kotaku chimed in to confirm that fifth game was not Beyond Good & Evil 2 or Skull & Bones . Schreier cited some development troubles for Skull Bones delaying the game severely, as well as Beyond Good & Evil 2 still not being far enough in developm

Even though Ubisoft will see the release of another highly anticipated franchise this year in Assassin's Creed Valhalla , there's another series fans are still waiting on. Just like seemingly every other Ubisoft franchise currently, it seems an entry in the Far Cry series will be on the way in the near future. Major delays aside, the fever dream shooter series is purported to be one of the many confirmed titles coming in Ubisoft's upcoming fiscal y
