Most builds in Destiny 2 have a hard time functioning with how limited our armor slots are. Helmets require ammo finders, arms need Champion mods, chests need damage resistance (DR), legs need ammo scavengers, and the class item typically fits expensive Artifact mods. PvP players have a little more room for experimentation, but PvE players have to spec for these things to have a smooth build for the endgame. If you don’t believe me, run a Grandmaster Nightfall without any DR mods and see how far you get. Run a Master Lost Sector without any ammo finders and see just how inconsistent ammo drops are. These mods are meta for a reason.

Bungie has made it clear that they want buildcrafting to be the next pillar of Destiny’s core design. It’s why armor mods have become more and more important, and it's why the Light subclasses are getting reworked this year . On a fundamental level, I agree with Bungie’s vision. I’d love to play a version of Destiny where every player you meet has a unique build that kicks alien ass in its own way. But with the current state of armor mods, those builds are locked behind layers of RNG and hundreds of hours of grinding. To realize a version of Destiny where every Guardian is truly their own legend, it’s time we reduce mod bloat, not make it worse.

I have 930 hours in Destiny 2 on Steam, which doesn’t include the time I spent playing it on Battle.Net. I’m probably close to 1500 hours in the game, and I’ve never completed a Grandmaster Nightfall. Like many others, my clan loses interest every season when they reach 1340 and there’s nothing left to do but log on and grind. The gap between hitting the pinnacle cap and confidently running the Grandmaster Nightfalls is way too wide. It punishes players that are otherwise dedicated Destiny players, pushing them away and making them feel unworthy of the highest challenge simply because they value their time more than the game does. I would like to see better options for earning Artifact Power in the future, or at the very least, a lower level requirement for Grandmaster Nightfalls. I’ll play Destiny 2 News 2 every day as long as I have meaningful content to complete, but if you ask me to do bounties on the Moon every night for several weeks, I’m going to move on to other games.

I don't think Legends Arceus will offer anything of value in the Lady Dimitrescu stakes. It may, as New Pokemon Snap 's Professor Mirror did, offer a handsome bear daddy, but that's a conversation for another day. Gen 9, whenever it arrives, and whatever country it's set in , will likely have a gym leader or professor the internet goes wild for, as well as even more Pokemon for the artists to immediately get weird with . I have seen countless players excitedly reach that 1330 pinnacle cap only to immediately fall off and disappear until the next season or expansion, unable to do the Grandmaster Nightfall and unwilling to grind for it. I would love to attempt the game’s hardest challenge - which also rewards the best gear - with my clanmates, but it’s difficult to encourage them to keep playing when all there is to do is run around on the Moon doing bounties for weeks until you’re Grandmaster ready. It’s unfair to expect players to grind that much just for access to something they’ve otherwise earned by playing the season and reaching the pinnacle cap, so a lot of people just don’t do it. Dedicated players shouldn’t miss out on the opportunity to participate in the highest level content just because they aren’t willing to exclusively play Destiny, especially when the game has nothing left to offer beyond Moon bounties.
