In an investors call (via VentureBeat ), EA CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that the new Battlefield will be revealed this spring and began to tease the potential for the title. It's unclear whether or not the game will come to Xbox One and PS4 but it is confirmed to release on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. According to Jorgensen, Battlefield 6 will " mark a return to all-out military warfare ." He continued by talking about the scale of the new shooter. " The game takes full advantage of the power of next-generation platforms to bring massive, immersive battles to life with more players than ever before. Featuring maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level. The team is focused and the game is ahead of our internal milestones. That's especially hard to guess considering how much Battlefield 5 was expanded post-launch. There's tons of game modes and other content that DICE added, including a battle royale game mode. Battlefield 6 has also been confirmed to have a larger player count , with rumors saying that it will double the size of the series’ past lobbies. Increasing the number of users in each match from 64 to 128, this drastic increase in players could revitalize the Battlefield community, as many series veterans have been hoping for an increased player count for some time now. With more action going on in one match than ever before, it will certainly be interesting to see how the traditional Battlefield experience changes in the sequel. The new Battlefield will be the first in the series since Battlefield V in 2018, which was a bit of a mess. The World War II shooter was buggy and had a lackluster battle royale mode to try and compete with other games, all of which led to DICE pulling support on Battlefield V __ less than two years after its launch. Rumors suggest Battlefield 6 could take players back to the modern-day setting , which has been notably absent since Battlefield 2042 DLC|https://battlefield2042play.Com/ 4 in 2013. The last two entries in the series, Battlefield 1 and V , have taken players back in time to both World War I and II respectively. After V failed to make a notable impression, it's likely EA is going to try and win back its audience by going back to the modern day setting. Make no mistake, 128 players can be a good thing for the Battlefield brand . A sizable boost to the player count feels like a natural evolution of the franchise, and if DICE can succeed in delivering satisfying maps and stable gameplay despite this increase, the larger teams could be a major strength of the sequel. However, while Battlefield 6 having more players can absolutely be a solid foundation to build upon, it should not be the only noteworthy change that the next game makes to the series’ form
