Karma is an interesting case because she was able to fight off her initial possession in the cinematic only to be Ruined once more off-screen. On the other hand, Draven and Shyvana show the Black Mist reached much farther than the on-screen areas of Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. While this opens the door for many older champions to get their first skin in years , it is another way to bring those who are unrelated to the Shadow Isles conflict or had their initial stories finished back into lore relevance. With many players fearing the ultimate fate of their favorite champions, hopefully they can be freed from the Ruined King's grasp in due t
** Max Grossman: ** For the initial characters that we've launched, most started with just their toolkits and different abilities. However, there was at least a "theme" in mind. Phoenix is a good example. He was always going to be fiery in some capacity—he throws a molotov and is reborn from the ashes, that kind of thing. Viper was the same. She started as this toxic, gas wielding character. But discovering that she was a scientist came later in the development process. Killjoy is a fascinating example since she started as a literal robot. So that component was very different at one point in time, but even then, she still had two of her four abilities that shipped with the final version of the character. Some of the characters change a lot, others not so m
It does vary from character to character, though. Some start as just pure mechanical "what does the character need to do in the space of the tactical game?" While others began as "the fantasy of this character is so cool, we have to have it." Both places can serve as inspiration as we're making new characters, but I think that, at least for me as a designer, I tend to lean on the more mechanical st
** TheGamer: ** A problem that hero shooters struggle with is balancing abilities. Often, meta and competitive play come strictly down to how practical special skills are. Upon reveal, many people thought Killjoy's ultimate looked unfair, but the truth is all you have to do is shoot her and her bot. Do you believe that Valorant's emphasis on skill-based gunplay ultimately frees you from the "ability balancing" problems that similar games f
With the latest champion development video, Riot Reav3 has stated the next three releases will be directly tied to the Ruined King's return. While players won't be getting more answers until February, the champions were teased as an AP fighter, a gloomy artillery mage, and a non-traditional AD carry. From these hints, there are several possible guesses to their currently unknown identit
Considering Apex Legends takes place within the larger Titanfall universe , there's already plenty of lore for expanded games to draw from. With the IMC/Milita conflict chronologically occurring decades before the events of Apex Legends , a lot has already happened. It is possible additional spin-offs could return with another Titanfall game, whether it's a prequel or sequel, to detail further events of the Frontier War. There's also plenty of potential in the Apex Legends storyline, outside of the battle royale's existing lore. Character-specific stories like a stealth-oriented/ Hitman -style game for Revenant, or perhaps a single-player first-person shooter detailing Bangalore's time with the IMC Armed Forces, these could certainly do well for Apex Legends fans in the right cont
Who's to say League of Legends players are going to come out in droves for Ruined King ? Plenty of players have jumped on the Valorant train, but that's not exactly a direct correlation to League of Legends ' success. Apex Legends could certainly try it, but don't expect Respawn Entertainment to announce six different spin-off games like Riot Games
The bombastic yeti Nunu and his mischievous partner Willump run around Summoners Rift consuming every objective on the map, before flying into lanes at mach speed delivering heat-seeking snowballs and crowd control galore. Nunu & Willump can be an extremely difficult champion to deal with, due to their ability to contest neutral objectives. Nunu & Willump also take advantage of badly positioned laners due to an obscene amount of crowd cont
Thunderclap : This is an active and passive spell. When used as a passive, Malphite gains armor. When activated, this spell creates a sonic boom that causes normal attacks to create shockwaves in front of
new jungle items players tend to fall into two general behaviors: hyper-aggressive people who want to run at everything and fight everybody, [and] then more cautious players that are like, "I could die at any second. I'm not gonna take a step forward cause there's someone around that corner, and they're gonna shoot me." The latter camp tend to gravitate towards Sentinel-play patterns. That would be my theory on it, but I could see us making Sentinels that feel significantly more complicated than Cypher that newer players would never want to to
