Bonus content from the pre-order and Special Editions for Black Myth: Wukong has been revealed. Gamers were given a first-hand look at what was on offer for Black Myth: Wukong 's bonus content during a trailer shown during the 2024 Summer Game F

One of the biggest remaining questions in terms of the game's combat mechanics is whether the Monkey King will have access to weapons other than his staff. The staff itself seems incredibly versatile and is capable of changing its length and move set, depending on which stance the protagonist is in. While this already shows good variety, it would be highly unusual for a Soulslike not to offer any other choice of weapons , and for those who are drawn to the genre for its build variety, this could be a blow. Answers here would be much more appreciated as a res

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers tells the story of Bai Wuchang, a warrior with no memory who is battling a mysterious illness known as Ornithropy. Sekiro 's protagonist, Wolf , is also prone to contracting an illness known as Dragonrot. However, while Ornithropy is slowly morphing Wuchang into a monster, on the flip side, it is also granting her access to immense power. The game is described as non-linear but stops short of calling itself an open-world game, so it's likely it will adopt a similar semi-open-world structure that is used in both Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice , and the upcoming Black Myth: Wuko

After defeating an optional boss called Guangzhi, a wolf wielding a flaming staff, I earned the ability to transform into him. Guangzhi has a powerful move set and the ability to ignite enemies, applying a burn that damages them over time, but what really makes this ability handy is that turning into Guangzhi gives you a new, full health bar. Eventually time runs out and you transform back into the Destined One, but transforming can be a great way to survive when your health is low by allowing you to tank a bunch of difficult to avoid attacks. Again, more layers of resource management.

After a prolonged period of relative silence, the hype for the upcoming Soulslike Black Myth: Wukong is set to intensify over the coming days. Since its initial unveiling three years ago, precious little has been shared from developer Game Science aside from a few trailers. But Black Myth: Wukong is confirmed to feature a 'World Premiere' at this Gamescom 2023, and fans should expect to learn even more about the upcoming action

Black Myth: Wukong was a standout at Gamescom this year. Public queues regularly exceeded a four-hour wait, when they weren't closed due to reaching capacity, and there was a considerable buzz on the show floor. Brave people camped out at the booth with a sandwich in hand, sat on a camping chair, slowly counting down the hours until they got to play Game Science's upcoming Chinese Mythology-focused Soulsl

Black Myth: Wukong launches August 19, and I expect it won’t take long before the hardcore nerds start cooking up some impossible challenges for it. It’s too bad the banana thing has already been done, but I’m sure someone will find a way to make this brutally difficult game somehow even more masochistic. Maybe not as masochistic as letting the developers watch you struggle for two hours straight, but still pretty hard.

With so many of its direct competitors releasing over the next four months or so, having a release window of 2025 will likely work in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers ' favor. This will give the title room to breathe and should allow the dust to settle on all of its rivals before it unleashes itself. Being available on PS5, PC, and also as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title will give it a great chance for success, so if Leenzee can stick the landing with the game's mechanics and settings, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers could be one of 2025's sleeper h

Black Myth: Wukong was first seen nearly four years ago with a 13-minute pre-alpha gameplay video, and since then the game has maintained a steady course of popularity throughout development. Created by Chinese developer and publisher Game Science, Black Myth: Wukong is a narrative Soulsike RPG based loosely on a novel called Journey to the West , in which players take the role of a Monkey soldier inspired by Sun Wukong, or the Monkey King. As the "Destined One," players will journey across vast landscapes inspired by Chinese mythology, wielding powerful weapons and magic as they battle through fierce enem

I’m not a big Souls player, but I did have a great time trying out Black Myth: Wukong. The two-hour demo I played took me through half a dozen boss encounters while introducing a variety of characters and all of the core progression and combat systems. Fans of the genre will find plenty of familiar ideas: campfires allow you to refill your health pots, purchase items, and craft armor upgrades, while also giving you a respawn point to come back to when you inevitably die. But it’s where Wukong breaks from genre traditions that make it truly stand out.
