While many video game enthusiasts will likely have their hands full for the immediate future with titles like Resident Evil 3 , Doom Eternal , and Final Fantasy VII Remake , it's easy to look at games on the horizon and wonder when they'll see the light of day. There are even persistent rumors that next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X might not hit their 2020 launch windows, or that, if they do, they will be in exceedingly short sup

Although Sly Cooper 2 and 3 explored less linear sections and had a greater sense of freedom in their level design, Sucker Punch’s first true open world title was 2009’s InFamous, which featured a fully-realized metropolitan area known as Empire City. The sizable environment featured plenty of optional encounters, side missions and collectibles to entertain the player outside of campaign missions, all of which helped boost Cole MacGrath’s super-powered abilities and sense of morality. Sucker Punch continued to explore large cities in the form of New Marais and Seattle in InFamous 2 and Second Son respectively, all the while expanding the ways players could traverse the city in quick manners, such as grinding on electric wires or levitation. While Jin’s ability to traverse via horse is significantly less outlandish, the sparse environments that have been shown off so far drastically contrast the hustle and bustle of the cities of InFamous, but still retain that same attention to detail and natural reactions that result from the player’s actions, from the blowing leaves in the wind to the mud and blood flying through the air during a combat encounter. Through a focus on transportation and immersive details, tsushimagame.com Sucker Punch is utilizing the smaller elements that bolstered InFamous’ reputation to enhance Ghost of Tsushima’s take on a completely different type of civilization.

Continuing the long running series' incredible story, Yakuza 7 will make its mark on the franchise with its unique combat system . Instead of leaning into the stylized action of previous entries, Yakuza 7 will play with turn based combat that turns the flashy combat into something more akin to Final Fanta

Is Ghost of Tsushima going to be the best game of 2020? I'm not a fortune teller, so I have no idea. But could it be my personal favorite game of 2020? Sure, why not. Sucker Punch, for my money, is one of the best developers in the video game industry and based on what we've seen so far, this could be shaping up to be the true swan song for the PS4 (sorry, The Last of Us Part I

Sony first lifted the veil on Ghost of Tsushima back at Paris Games Week 2017 with a short trailer that let us know the game would be taking place during the Mongol invasion of Japan. The game centers around a samurai by the name of Jin Sakai, but other details of the story and characters aren't really widely known just yet. On the gameplay front, all that Sucker Punch has opted to show us so far has been one demo at E3 2018 followed by another trailer that featured some more snippets of gameplay and a release window back at The Game Awards 2

Story has always played a key role in Sucker Punch’s history, from Sly Cooper’s journey to understand and recover his family’s history, to the various superhuman Conduits’ paths to saving or ruling over their respective cities. But what grounds these plots and makes them relatable comes down to the supporting cast, as Bentley’s gradually increasing confidence, Murray’s happy-go-lucky demeanor and Zeke Dunbar’s outgoing nature all compliment the behaviors of their respective companion, with each of them remaining dedicated to assisting their friends as best as possible in these difficult times. While traditional samurai stories can often rely more on introspection and seclusion, Sucker Punch has already begun teasing some of the key figures that will play a role in Jin’s fight , including the conflicted ally Masako and his concerned uncle Shimura. With many elements of Ghost of Tsushima’s plot yet to be revealed, there’s room for additional characters to come in and both encourage and challenge Jin on his quest, and Sucker Punch’s past with deep and relatable characters is a testament to the potential of this promise being fulfilled when the game launches on June 26 for PS4.

I'm also just stoked for Ghost of Tsushima though because, hey, I love action games. If you know my gaming tastes whatsoever, you're probably aware that I have become obsessed with the Souls games in recent years. Other standout favorites of mine from recent memory include Judgment , Assassin's Creed Odyssey , and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice . While I'm unsure of how much DNA Ghost of Tsushima will share with games like this, based on the extended gameplay demo we saw in 2018, I got some major Batman: Arkham , Assassin's Creed , and Sekiro vibes. If Ghost of Tsushima's final version is anything close to games like these, I'm all

Sucker Punch has set the bar very high for themselves with their past success making Sly Cooper and Infamous games. Throughout three generations of PlayStation consoles, the developer has been a mainstay for gamers on the platform. It seems like Ghost of Tsushima is up to the challenge of raising the bar higher than ever before, as Sucker Punch looks to cap off the PlayStation 4 with perhaps it's last AAA exclus
