Ubisoft once perfect the open world action-adventure formula with its past games, namely by focusing on an interesting and eccentric villain to push it forward. An attempt at this can be seen in every game, although arguably, none are able to live up to Far Cry 3 's Vaas Montenegro. Far Cry 4 's Pagan Min and Far Cry 5 's Joseph Seed are still good sources from which Far Cry 6 can learn, but aside from Vaas, perhaps Ubisoft should look closely at Seed and New Dawn 's Mickey and L Oh Wonderbook d...

In recent years, there has been an uptick in the number of games that offer co-op gaming. Players have previously teamed up in some pretty big titles, including Monster Hunter World , Dark Souls , and No Man's Sky , among others. It looks like 2019 will bring even more big co-op titles to players, including games from Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Bethesda, as well as other developers. Co-op gameplay will continue as a trend into the year. Here are some of the most promising games to look forward to in...

One of the most anticipated games of the year, Anthem , is also the most promising co-op title of the year. In Anthem, players take on the role of a Freelancer in an exosuit called a Javelin to make their way through a shared world that will feature both single-player and co-op gameplay modes. Teams can have a squad of up to four players to explore the science fiction-like landscape of the world that often changes thanks to something called "Shaper Storms." There isn't a lot of information avail...

When most people think of big multiplayer games, the first ones that usually come to mind are shooters. However, Forza Horizon 4 shows that there doesn’t always have to be tons of action to make a solid multiplayer experience. Forza Horizon 4 is the next installment in the Forza racing series, and marks one of the best racing games to date. This open-world racing game gives players the freedom to explore the United Kingdom at their own pace, creating races and customizing cars all along the The ...

On the other hand, New Dawn presented a straightforward story structure that came to be expected of the series, yet it's overarching story, perhaps because of Mickey and Lou, was not that invigorating. As the old idiom goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Far Cry 6 should take the best of both worlds, combining the classic story structure found in New Dawn and older games, but make sure that the story is on-par with Far Cry 5 as well. Overall, if Far Cry 6 manages to nail these things, it'll...

Bringing back meaningful world manipulation to Far Cry 6 could once again highlight the player freedom that the series is known for. Stealth mechanics from Far Cry 3 onward were vastly improved from Far Cry 2 , including detection meters and more realistic enemy behavior. Bringing back real time progression and the manipulation of enemies and outposts could help players further customize their playstyle. The game could implement missions that involve guard shift changes, requiring players infilt...

Far Cry is all about creating mayhem within a giant sandbox. The next evolution of that approach would be implementing destructible environments. Imagine being able to blow up an entire house and expose all the enemies within. Destroying the buildings around you would never stop being fun. How about attaching C4 to your jeep, speeding towards a building, and then jumping out at the last second? Cover could also eventually be chipped away from gunfire, causing you to constantly be on the move. Ma...

I decided to explore this with a few choice examples after recently re-watching the awesome preview of Far Cry 3 that Ubisoft showed at their eclectic E3 conference. In the trailer, embedded below this paragraph, you are met by a madman named Vaas, who possesses an off center mohawk and a surprisingly calm disposition. He quickly turns violent, but his speech is riveting. His speech got me thinking about what makes a villain memorable. Vaas is someone who I already want to meet in the context of...

Seed created a legacy, put his family first, and had conviction in his beliefs (that turned out to be right). This idea that his insanity was actually based in something took Seed to a new level, leading fans to be happy with his surprising return in New Dawn . This added a new layer to the character, perhaps giving him more depth than others, and is something Ubisoft should replicate. The antagonists of New Dawn , Mickey and Lou, were the opposite though. They really had no depth and committed ...

_ Far Cry 4 _ played with this idea a little bit, but the factions were specifically part of the plot. You only got to side with one faction or the other at the very end. A faction system that is affected by gameplay would be a welcome addition. You could take down an outpost, then decide which faction gets to control it. It would be a nice change of pace and would open many story possibilities since you’re constantly changing the flow of battle between these factions. To make things interesting...

That's not to say that the Battlefield franchise hasn't had "interesting" locations—France, Italy, the Gallipolli Peninsula, Norway, just to name a few and far more. However, even when accentuated with Battlefield 's trademark capabilities of destruction , these areas don't really come to life. They simply serve as a historical backdrop for a short story, a far cry from...well, Farcry6Zone.com Far Cry . Of course, there's two things that need to be addressed in this comparison: genre and enviro...
