While Legend of Solgard 's genre-fusing gameplay will feel refreshing to capital G gamers, I can't help but think that the more casual Candy Crush crowd will inevitably fall off the wagon. Despite Snowprint's commendable effort to hold players' hands during the first few stages of the campaign, the game inevitably introduces deeper mechanics and more complex strategic elements that may be off-putting to less-seasoned gamers. Throughout my time with Legend of Solgard , I often used my father's fascination with Candy Crush and other similar mobile games as an impromptu litmus test. Every time the game introduced one of its new mechanics, whether it be a character's unique ability, mana, or Sun Gems, I kept asking myself, "would my dad continue to play th

"I think it’s something that I’ve always been interested in, but it wasn’t until I got into college and met some people doing it that I actually took the plunge. I’m not even sure if I can classify my first "outing" as a cosplay, I threw some stuff together and did a Lady Vader back in 2012. I had fun though, and got a good look at what other people were producing, asked a lot of questions, and thought 'yeah, I really need to do this right

"This was a project full of firsts for me. It’s been incredibly frustrating and educational trying to finally accomplish this cosplay. This was my first time making armor with Worbla, and I only have one burn scar… so far! In fact, this was my first time using automotive primer, Bondo, silicone molds, resin casts, and a whole lot of other stuff. I’m a kinetic learner, so the only way I really get a handle on stuff is by getting my hands on it and going for it. I messed up a lot, but I learned a lot. You really just have to take every little thing in stride. I had been pushing to try and get this cosplay ready for a specific convention, and nearly drove myself mad trying to do it. Instead, I’ve learned now to just sit back and enjoy the experience. It’ll be done when it’s done, and I’ll be proud of the finished produ

Legend of Solgard 's core gameplay loop starts off pretty simply. Each level begins with enemies coming out of a portal to attack Embla and her squadron of creatures. To win each altercation, players must attack their opponents' portal and reduce the portal's hit point count to zero. To launch these attacks, players must manipulate their own different factions by matching three creatures of similar color together vertically on their side of the battlefield. If no enemy or object obstructs the creature's attack, the player can directly attack the opponent's portal, reducing the opponent's hit points. Conversely, if an enemy is in the way of a creature's attack, that enemy will be weakened or destroyed rather than the opponent's por

So, what is the importance of Game W-L and G +/-? These statistics determine where a team is ranked in the standings if two or more teams' match record is tied. For example, in the HGC North America Standings, Team Octalysis and ENDEMIC are tied for 4th place. However, since Team Octalysis has the better game record, they get the 4th place spot. In the case that both the match and game records are at a tie, the team with the higher G +/- score gets the higher spot in the standi

They will be facing EU's Leftovers, a team that has been struggling throughout the 2018 season. The team has added a new tank player to the roster with Mopsio, but it is still unclear whether he will be a differentiating factor for the t

Anybody who has ever attended a gaming or comic convention knows that the world of cosplay is no joke. Cosplayers spend countless hours planning and building insane costumes every year, just to parade them out during convention season and show them off. Unless you're a part of the scene, you might not realize just how much blood, sweat, and tears goes into every project. We sat down with one of our favorite cosplayers this week to chat about the work that went into her League and Legends and Diablo 3 proje

Many free-to-play games have in-game currency that can be purchased with real money, giving those who are willing to shell out actual money a reward. That's all well and good, but many gamers feel it sets the stage for unbalanced play, as people willing to spend real cash may get better weapons or more play time to level

Even if microtransactions might be backed by good intentions, that doesn't change the way they feel to gamers. EA's own Mass Effect 3 's day-one DLC had many fans up in arms —if the DLC was ready at launch, why wasn't it included in MOBA Game ranking guide, especially since it contained a character many long-time fans of the series were dying to see? It's easy to be cynical; EA knew players wanted to know more about the mysterious Protheans and knew they'd be willing to pay money for it, so it's possible they changed their business model for more profit. That, coupled with the introduction of war resources that required multiplayer grinding for the best ending, microtransactions to get better weapons and characters in multiplayer, and the controversial ending, left fans of the series feeling exploited and skeptical for the fut
