I saved the best for last on this list. While many folks pointed out Nintendo’s lack of original titles, Splatoon made a splatastic debut and made up for the last few decades. The cute, colorful, simple online shooter is a friendly way to introduce players to the genre. Clever weapon designs and fresh gear to wear makes Splatoon a uniquely designed game. It’s not serious or violent like many others, which appeals to players of all ages. Friends, parents, kids and squids can all enjoy this MOBA G...

Arizona State took home top notch gaming systems for their runner-up finish. Heroes of the Storm may still be in beta until June, but its appearance on national television last night got the eSports scene some of the best mainstream exposure its had One important logistic is the potential for archive lockout, with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow nearing the ends of their fourth, second and first seasons respectively. This isn’t the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where you can skip a movie ...

While Legend of Solgard 's genre-fusing gameplay will feel refreshing to capital G gamers, I can't help but think that the more casual Candy Crush crowd will inevitably fall off the wagon. Despite Snowprint's commendable effort to hold players' hands during the first few stages of the campaign, the game inevitably introduces deeper mechanics and more complex strategic elements that may be off-putting to less-seasoned gamers. Throughout my time with Legend of Solgard , I often used my father's fa...

There’s a reason why the majority of my gaming is done as a single player - I need a pause button. My life rarely goes longer than 15-20 minutes before my dog starts puking or something catches fire and needs my immediate attent On paper, the plan is being executed to perfection. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) uses his new superpower to sense big things in his new girlfriend's future, those big things get even bigger when a magical villain comes to town, establishing himself as too much for masked vigila...

Our first example on this list of a champion "that is always Wood V when on my team, but Diamond level when I face them." He is very frustrating to play against, especially for those new to the game. For new players who have yet to get a hang of looking at their mini-map, having an invisible character walk up to them and open fire can be very frustrating. League of Legends requires players to be skilled at their champion and to understand the threat level of every other champion in the game. Wel...

This variation also makes certain heroes more attractive to play on certain maps. You may want to opt for global presence of Dehaka on larger maps, allowing you to quickly be where your team needs you during team-fights, no matter how far you wander. Or on maps with tighter lanes, you may go for a slower assassin like Valeera, who can roam around to get quick kills on unwary play When it was announced that Kendra Saunders would be coming to The Flash before Legends , most assumed it was to give ...

Shaco is, by far, the most annoying champion in all of League of Legends . He can go invisible and jump a distance with the same move. He can throw daggers that slow you. He does more damage to you when your back is turned to him. He places invisible jack-in-the-box traps that fear your character, laugh and damage you. His ultimate ability creates a clone that he can independently control. All the while, he constantly laughs as he executes his abilities. Again, like Teemo, he doesn’t synergize w...

A Jungler is a player who plays mostly within the jungle of the map, focusing on the wolves, golems and buff monsters that live within it. As they gain experience and items, they will start to ambush your lanes, either to help you or to attack you if you’re on opposing teams. This form of ganking is very common, especially in mid-lane. Learning proper routes of the jungle is important, as there are a few different ways to go about approaching the jun Today marks the 25th anniversary of the origi...

Talon can be very strong, but I think he is well balanced overall within the game. The frustrating thing is that damn ability to parkour. Walls are no obstacle to the man, making chasing him a fool’s endeavor. Even if you somehow catch up to him, the expenditure of time and effort negates the gain of putting him down. One of the barriers that keeps lower elo players from advancing is the inability to capitalize after winning a team fight. Talon exploits those inabilities. He may be the last pers...

In the last twelve years, the powerhouse studio has developed a reputation of announcing games by revealing breathtaking cinematic trailers that appeal to both long-time fans of the company's IPs and potential new customers. Although the last few games and their expansions have been announced with trailers that focus more on in-game footage ( like World of Warcraft: Legion ), the company still releases a top of the line cinematic trailer when each new product hits shel Like many free-to-play mob...

That being said, in its own unique way, Legend of Solgard' s mid-core style of game design is considerably more palatable than other mobile games. The gameplay loop is repeatedly made satisfying by its own rich complexity; the kind of casual challenge that could only come from a mobile title. The more I play Legend of Solgard and ponder the strengths and weakness of my characters, the different varieties of enemies, and different combinations I have at my disposal, the more I get sucked into it....
