Fans had probably given up on the Fable series and that was probably fair as it did seem dead. In the run-up to E3, though, rumors began swirling, with Fable 4 being talked up as leaks emerged. Naturally, there was an expectation, especially with the Microsoft crew informing us beforehand that they would have lots in store at the event. They were certainly telling the truth about that, but we imagine lots of Fable fans were let down by the complete blank.
The next major project from Shinji Mikami and Tango Gameworks was revealed by Bethesda's at its E3 2019 conference. Ghostwire: Tokyo was revealed with a stylish CG trailer that showed off a futuristic-looking Japan where many of its citizens have vanished into thin air. Viewers can also see a few horror elements mixed in with what appear to be supernatural beings going up against the main character who wields a bow and has access to abilities. When the original Fable was in development, the game's director Peter Molyneux talked about his plans for the game, which at the time was codenamed Project Ego. The main idea was that players would pick up the controller on a 15-year-old whose parents were killed, and in a journey of revenge, players would guide their avatar through an RPG experience shaping their avatar from a teenager to an adult with total freedom of their path. Originally due for release this past March, The Sinking City was delayed to June 27. This gave the game one last opportunity to be shown off at E3, where it made an appearance during the Kinda Funny Games Showcase.
